Center for Advanced Automotive Technology

Collaborating with Macomb Community College, WSU is a sole university partner of National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Center, and Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT). CAAT was established in September 2010 with the ATE project and preparation stretching back to 2005. During the past 15 years, the Center successfully built a robust learning environment for students and educators in advanced automotive technology (electrification, hybridization, energy storage, lightweighting, automated/autonomous, and auto cybersecurity) through leading systematic curriculum reform, facilitating course development and adoption, and increasing industrial-academic-government collaboration to meet the needs of industry. Within that context, a comprehensive resource center began to take shape, as all materials that were developed in partnership with CAAT were reviewed by industry experts and offered as a free resource through our AutoCAAT website. We are now the ATE Resource Center for CAAT (2018-2022). CAAT is the preeminent resource for educating engineers and technicians in advanced automotive.
