Imagine being thrust into the forefront of a resurgent U.S. manufacturing industry as you prepare to answer the environmental, health and societal challenges facing traditional manufacturers. Or perhaps you are more driven to perform cutting-edge research in connectivity and mobility, accelerating understanding in areas such as connected health; public safety; the environment; traffic management; computing infrastructure; and food, energy and water distribution.

These projects — and many more within our 50 degree and certificate programs — are evidence of the college's commitment to improving quality of life and the kind of hands-on, real-life experience that's only possible at a top-ranked urban research university like Wayne State.

The philosophy of the College of Engineering is rooted in its High Impact Practices, which were created to ensure every student gains the technical and personal skills needed to embark on a successful career. Students have access to a host of industry partners and area employers at our career fairs and workshops, and learn to translate research and development into innovation and entrepreneurship through the Anderson Engineering Ventures Institute, which provides opportunities to study best practices in applied research, technology commercialization and business creation.

Working cross-culturally within our 3,700-member student body – which represents nearly 40 countries – will help you succeed as a student and a professional, at home and around the globe. These people will be your research partners in the labs, your friends and colleagues in our 25 student organizations, and your cohort of future Wayne State engineers ready to change the world.

If you need help getting started or finding your way, our team of advisors are ready to answer your questions.
