Chemical engineers apply knowledge in mathematics and science to chemical process design and optimization, solving technical problems safely and economically for a wide range of industries. Materials science focuses on the relationships among properties, functions and structural elements of traditional metal, ceramic and polymeric materials, as well as advanced materials.
Students in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science are positioned to provide leadership in battery technology; biomaterials and tissue engineering; catalysis; computational thermodynamics; drug and gene delivery; polymer and colloidal engineering; and sustainable systems engineering.
Rising star in the field of process systems engineering. Recipient of the Young Investigator Program Award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Named as an outstanding young chemical engineering educator by the CACHE Executive Board.
